What is “vizeur”

Vizeur is a play on french words. To “vise” is to aim. We aim to shoot well targeted 360° HDR locations Kits for CGI rendering and vfx.

What is a 360° HDR?

It is a 32-bit 360°x180° equirectangular image that is used for lighting CG scenes.

360° HDR’s are used to match lighting and reflections of real world locations in order to make 3D object look photo real.

What is a backplate?

Our 360° HDR’s are matched to backplate photos that are basically hi-res photos of the location around the area where the HDR was photographed.

What is a XYZ locator?

It’s a scale and perspective tool that we use on location to help orient the photos and allows the 3D scene to be perspective matched to the photography.

What is a “Kit”?

A Kit is a combination of one high resolution 360° HDR map and matching backplates to use as a background for your renderings.

How many stops/EVs are your 360° HDR’s?

We shoot as many as we can based upon on location lighting. The images will be anywhere between 12-24EV.

Do your 360° HDR’s cast shadows?

Yes, any 360° HDR shot with the sun will cast shadows. In MODO you must use Environment Importance Sampling to have clean renders and sharp shadows. You’ll need to tweak your application and render settings to sample for the sun.

What equipment do you use?

We use hi-end Canon camera bodies and L-glass for our backplates. For 360° HDR’s we shoot with a variety of lenses and cameras depending upon the conditions. Our gear is always changing as new equipment and tech becomes available.

What software do you use?

Thats a tricky question, great chefs don’t reveal the secrets to the meals they make. We use mostly industry standard tools and adapt what we use based upon the needs of each shot.

Are the images royalty free?

Starter Kits, Quick Kits, Pro Kits are all royalty free. In the future we may start selling Managed Kits with will have different licensing. If you hire us to photograph custom HDR location kits for you, these images will be rights managed. Please refer to our Licensing page for details.

How often can I use the products?

Products purchased with a Royalty Free license allow you to use it multiple times in multiple projects for different clients. You can not redistribute these products, give to other people, share on your website or deliver it with software, 3D model, scene you created or distribute in any form any derivative 360° HDR or backplates.

What are the file formats?

The 360° HDR is delivered as a 32bit float .exr file. Starter Kit backplates are available as jpeg files saved at the lowest compression rate so the files are as high of quality as possible.

Your 360° HDR it looks like it's flipped in my software?

This may happen depending on the 3D software you use. In Max you can fix it by setting the U tiling to -1. In MODO you can set the texture locator’s Horizontal Wrap to -1.

The backplates look flat and not very dramatic, why?

We are supplying you with camera neutral background plates that match the neutral processing of the 360° HDR. We recommend adding all your color correction and grading after rendering and compositing your 3D renders with our imagery.

360° HDR gamma?

Our 360° HDR’s are all gamma 1. So with modern linear workflows your software should not have to add or de-gamma.

Where is the cart?

We are trying to keep this simple. Online stores are complex and not something we want to invest all our time in tweaking and updating. We have chosen to sell via Gumroad, a great place for artists to distribute their downloads. It helps us keep our prices down. So no cart, just a link to a Gumroad purchase page.

What payment methods can I use?

You can use whatever payment options Gumroad supports.

What about VAT?

All prices on our site are stated without VAT. VAT varies depending upon the buyers country and if you are registered as a business or not. With a Valid VAT # you can purchase VAT free. The VAT cost will be calculated by our reseller at checkout after you supply your address and billing info.

How are the products delivered?

Files should be available immediately after payment via our reseller. You will receive an email with download links. They host and deliver the files as well as process payment and offer secure payment. If there are download problems you can contact us.

Can I have an invoice?

You will receive an invoice directly via email.
